Temporary stoppage due to depression

I have suffered from depression for the past 5-6 years. Alas, another depression episode has come upon me. My shrink had allowed me to stop medication after doing quite well for a significant period of time. So it is time for me to go back on medication. I should be back towards normal in a few weeks (the medications take that long). For the past few day I have barely been able to stay awake, a sure depression sign for me.

Work on Path of Evil (it's almost ready for others to look at, a few more bugs and the module transitions are needed) will continue full speed once I feel better, probably in a few weeks. Since the campaign has kept me motivated and goal driven (something I struggle with under depression), be assured that it is not being abandoned. Work will continue in the meantime, but because my depression manifests itself as exhaustion and sleep I expect progress will be slow indeed. Like I said, this should just be a few weeks.

  1. Hi Kamal,

Take your time and have a break. :) Before I was diagnosed with M.E. I thought I was suffering from depression due to extreme tiredness. One thing I can be certain of is that being tired *does* bring on episodes of depression simply because your mind and body are too weak to cope.

I too have to take it very easy when doing anything at all, or I become tired and bring on melencholy and what seem to me episodes of depresssion. I even underwent CBT to help me cope with mental attitudes during a low period. However, the simple answer for me was to rest, as I always knew that no matter how low I was feeling that I would come out of it within a few weeks after I had rested properly.

That's why my own project is taking much longer than many others who can finish a mod in a quarter of the time I take. ;)

Slow plodding perseverance is what's required. Take some time out, recharge the batteries and come back to it when you feel ready. :)

You can always drop by and keep me company on my blog in the meanwhile. :)

    All the best!

    Lance.

  3. Take care of yourself! People can wait for the module (which is looking awesome, by the way).
